Coworking on Long Island

Not worth!

For those who don’t know what Coworking means, the concept is simple. If want office space you pay rent. Typically, 2 people who want the same space cannot both pay rent. Coworking solves that problem. 2 people can both pay for the same space and share it. In 2025 it’s a very popular way for people like me to work — I don’t have a company of any other domestic people besides myself, so sharing an office space with others is perfectly fine.

Over the years I’ve been a member of WeWork, Nomadworks, and currently Fabrik. However, as I’m currently spending some more time this summer on Long Island, I wanted to find a space on Long Island that fits my criteria for a good place to work. So I decided to embark on a journey around the towns of Melville and Syosset to see if the LabWork, Regus, HQ, or Grabsuite Coworking Spaces live up live up to my expectations.

Short Answer… and I really want to tell this story in full but I have like 20 seconds left. These coworking spaces are devoid of life. Miserable. Empty without a person around. 2pm midday and the whole space is locked because no one has yet entered it (Lab). Locked in a room staring at a wall. There are so many places I’d rather work than these. The smell and ambiance was depressing. The only noise was that humming sound you hear in your doctors office hallway from the fluorescent lights. Especially as someone who would be PAYING for this space instead of getting paid to work in an assigned space, I realized how good I may have had it at some other places in NYC. Passed today. If anyone has a rec I’m happy to hear it.

Work environment is crucial. So crucial. The tiniest of changes can yield large results. Don’t believe me — read Atomic Habits.
