How to make $ in Crypto

Not investment advice

Sure I worked on Wall Street as an options trader but if you thought this blog would be a proper trading strategy on Bitcoin you are in the wrong place my friend.

Today I am sharing an observation I’ve made over the past few days and really something I’ve been quietly observing for 3 years since the Bitcoin Conference in Miami.

See the difference between then and now is in Miami I was volunteering at the Bitcoin Conference as I thought it was the only way to get in for free — and I really wanted to go. Now I get a pass to the conference since I do video for one of the panelists. And I have no desire to go to the conference outside the fact that I’m hired. Mind is a bit clearer now than it was in 2022. Which OK. I was 23. Chill.

But to the main point of this writeup — the real way to make money in crypto is to understand that “cryptocurrency” is a hype train. You can say — oh buy and HODL (buy and never sell) but in reality you are assuming a ton of risk in that proposition and have to spend sleepless nights worrying after losing 25% in 20 minutes.

No matter how good the return is I don’t particularly enjoy having to worry like that. Some might say — be a better investor. I say — why not just go for risk free profit? I just want to make a few extra $$$.

The alternative solution I provide relates to crypto conferences and trade shows. They happen around the world. Very wealthy people and companies littered with cash attend these conferences. Crypto freaks (and normal ppl) from all over the world fly in for these conferences.

First off — throwing the conference is a home run. That’s the best business model. Charge $1k / ticket + $5k VIP (all paid for by companies) and get 10k-100k to attend + Sponsors + Media Coverage. You hit a home run. But for normal people like us, this is quite the challenge — so it’s not the solution I focus on.

Where the real economics lie is the fact that the mere attraction of companies and people from everywhere and bringing them to one place creates a whole hospitality angle by which you can make money.

^ Really long way of saying a lot of people, a lot of events, a lot of money to go around.

For me — it’s providing video content. For some it might be building a stage, catering a meal, providing audio equipment, throwing a private party and earning money off paid tickets. Think of it and you can make money because of the sheer number of people in attendance.

Since there’s so much money to go around, you will get paid for your product or service if you try hard enough.

The hard part is getting in the door — and that takes effort, especially without the network (like me).

But once you’re in, the world is your oyster.
