Why I quit Wall Street and Started an Olive Oil Brand

$600 of Nobu gave me the clue

In August 2021, while playing golf with my dad, I complained to him about feeling empty after a $600 meal at Nobu.

No I don’t have that crazy of an appetite, I was indeed super full after the meal. But emotionally, I felt very empty throughout that meal.

What had occurred was a realization that I valued my work I was doing more than being treated to nice dinners or the idea that I was making a lot of money.

I wholeheartedly believed I wasn’t doing a good job at work — and I wasn’t going to let Nobu cloud that vision as it does for so many people.

I always go back to this Nobu story as it’s a microcosm for why I left Citi in 2022. I carry on for almost an hour discussing the full story of why I left Wall Street and Started an Olive Oil Brand.
